Cement sales monitoring system

We were entrusted with the task of creating a complete system to supervise cement sales and monitor vehicles from the moment the order was placed to the moment the loaded vehicle leaves the cement plant. The challenge was to integrate the system with the current programs and to develop a mechanism resistant to the conditions in the cement plant.

Ordering client: Schenck Process

Final client: Lafarge cementownie

Project objectives

  • Creating a complete system to supervise the cement sales process
  • Customer guidance from the moment the order is placed to the moment the loaded vehicle leaves the cement plant
  • Optimization and automation of the order execution process
  • Simplifying and reducing the time of customer service

Solution

We have provided programming solutions, design and production of electronic and digital system modules. Specialized measuring equipment, industrial automation and necessary equipment were supplied by Schenck Process.
Our comprehensive system guides and supports the customers of the cement plant, right from the moment they appear in the sales office. Proximity cards are a huge convenience, improving the whole order process and shortening it to a few steps.
1. Recording the order details and their transfer to the customer of the cement plant.
2. Allowing access to the plant site
3. Reading the stored data in terminals placed e.g. on forklift trucks
4. Collecting and loading the ordered materials
5. Weighing the loaded vehicle on the basis of the value resulting from the list of ordered products.
6. Issuing of MI (pl. WZ) documents.
7. Making it possible to leave the plant site.
8. Retaining the card by the terminal and closing the sales operation.
A major challenge was to integrate the system with the order handling software previously used by Lafarge.
The terminals enabling recording and reading information on the cards turned out to be the most critical module of the system. Cement dust was getting inside the standard readers, and under the influence of humid conditions, specific to the plant site, cemented the mechanical elements, permanently damaging them. This was particularly noticeable in terminals located on forklift trucks.
Therefore, we have designed from scratch and manufactured readers which were resistant to the conditions in the cement plant.
